Pillow blanket

By Netherland-based design studio Joon & Jung

‘This genius blanket is essentially a quilt made of thirty pillows. The blanket leaves one pillow missing in its design, allowing you to slide your head through the hole like a poncho.’

OH MY GOD GIMME IT.

I want this for my birthday.

I can see myself getting like hopelessly tangled up and dying in that thing

Modular carpet, built in small tiles rather than giant rolls, has a few sustainable-design superpowers. It’s scalable, so it can better fit any space without waste; you buy only as many tiles as you need, so you won’t end up needing to trim off as much excess. If you drop a glass of wine and the stain doesn’t come out, you can replace only the tiles that were casualties. With ordinary carpet, if one corner gets damaged and you want it to look better, you’d need to throw out the entire carpet….
The design above, called Cityscapes, is from a Slovakian design firm called ALLT, and inspired by patterns found in street pavements.

Maybe I’m being really unrealistic and maybe I’m just in a state of perpetual dream but I need need need to remember what makes me happy—-freedom! I’m such a damn free spirit. I don’t want to wear socks! I don’t want to wear cardigans—-no more socks! I want to run to the ocean after a long day and let the waves tickle my ankles. I want to lose track of time after the sun has caressed me to sleep. I want to climb into the tree house and be childish and laugh at the chicken trying to escape their coops. I want to rewrite resolutions in Sharpie on the treehouse. I want to feel vulnerable—like I’m in the WILD. Then, I want to retreat into my own space and turn up the orchestra music and be gone—be far far away in my own mind, melted in the depths of my inner soul’s creativity. I will cut glass to make beautiful mosaics, allowing my nimble fingers to grace along the edges of what is pure, untainted. I will patiently watch my fingers craft whatever it so pleases—it brings me into early morning as the sun yawns with me. Then I will brew a cup of tea and swirl in a ton of honey….listen to the delicate er hu of Chinese music and stretch-stretch-stretch, relax my muscles and recenter myself…smile, and tousle the hair of the one I love, give him a kiss and look at him like he’s one of the best things to happen to me. This is how I will start my dream Monday mornings.

A Urine Powered Generator. An amazing accomplishment by four brilliant girls. The girls are are Duro-Aina Adebola (14), Akindele Abiola (14), Faleke Oluwatoyin (14) and Bello Eniola (15).

  • 1 Liter of urine gives you 6 hours of electricity.

  • The system works like this:

    • Urine is put into an electrolytic cell, which separates out the hydrogen.
    • The hydrogen goes into a water filter for purification, which then gets pushed into the gas cylinder.
    • The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which is used to remove the moisture from the hydrogen gas.
    • This purified hydrogen gas is pushed into the generator.

This is freaking AMAZING.

Don’t attach yourself to anyone who shows you the least bit of attention because you’re lonely. Loneliness is the human condition. Cultivate it. The way it tunnels into you allows your soul room to grow. Never expect to outgrow loneliness. Never hope to find people who will understand you, someone to fill that space. An intelligent, sensitive person is the exception, the very great exception. If you expect to find people who will understand you, you will grow murderous with disappointment. The best you’ll ever do is to understand yourself, know what it is that you want, and not let the cattle stand in your way.
